The Arrival (Happy Birthday Solomon!)
Hi. This is Jared, and I am reporting that my little son, Solomon Orion Dickey, was born at 9:54 AM this morning, much to the surprise of us all. Of course, he is definitly our son, and apparently was coming out today whether we thought we were ready for him or not. He weighs a hefty 1 lb. 5 oz. and is the smallest little person that I have ever seen. He is on a feeding tube and ventilator, but breathing on his own. He has been transported to Akron Children's Hospital NICU where he will be spending the next several months getting stronger and bigger by the day hopefully. My wife is recovering after what has been a monumental week, and I ask that you keep her and our little one in your prayers. She is not up to visitors for the time being, but I am sure she will post to let you all know when she is back on her feet. Thank you for all of the concern and thoughts (and prayers) throughout this ordeal, and day by day as we move forward. As for me, no finger nails left, and I think only grey hairs, but so proud of my wife and the newest member of our family.

Jared...he's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour little guy and his family are all in my prayers...in fact in this two days I have enlisted scores of prayerful people both at my school and a prayer chain I belong to, to keep him in their thoughts, on their hearts and in their prayers. Its really amazing to me how God sends angels just where they are needed most. Within a couple hours of Michael calling me I placed Solomon on a prayer chain of wonderful friends but since I did not have your permission, I did not use Solomon's name, your name, or Akron Children's. Just said a precious little boy needed their spiritual intervention.
Now enter an angel. At the end of the evening last night I got a Facebook message but did not recognize the name and you know how tiny the profile pictures are, anyway, the message said I will keep a close eye on this little boy for you per your prayer request. I am an RN in the NICU at Akron Children's. After a quick investigation and an enlargement of that tiny picture I learned that the FB messenger is a former student at Michael's elementary school. Without Solomon's name she some how figured out which baby I was enlisting prayers for. She (Nicole) promised me that she would take very good care of him and to have faith because ACH NICU is the best around (a fact I already knew). I have known Nicole personally from my years on staff at the school and I know what a dedicated young woman she is and if she promises me that she will watch over him, I can take that to the bank! Everyone will be in my prayers in the days and weeks to come and I look forward to all of your updates.
Love his name. He is going to follow in his strong and powerful biblical namesake.
